Its landscape is defined by the Meseta Central, in the southern half of the Province; one of a level profile with small hills normally of little elevation. To the South the Sierra Morena range, whose main passage to the Independent Community of Andalusia is at Despeñaperros, borders the province. Montes de Toledo borders the North, which are of little altitude.
The main hydrographic river basin is called the Guadiana. This river has its start at the Lagunas de Ruidera, to the East of the province, then disappears and reappears close to the locality of Villarrubia de los Ojos.. Some of the principle cities in the province are Cigüela, el Záncara and el Jabalón
The climate of the province is mediterraneancontinental, with one of the major thermal oscillators of the peninsula. This leads to cold winters and very warm, dry summers.
